Why learn Polish as a Ukrainian?

Knowing Polish opens many doors — both professionally and personally. It helps you find better job opportunities, handle administrative matters more easily, study in Poland, and build relationships with Polish people.

Learning Polish is especially beneficial for Ukrainians because:

  • the two languages are similar, which accelerates the learning process;
  • you can reach a communicative level faster;
  • understanding cultural and language contexts is easier;
  • it increases your opportunities in the Polish job market.

Polish for Ukrainians – where to start?

The good news is that you are not really starting from scratch. Polish and Ukrainian belong to the same Slavic language family. They share similar grammar and a lot of common vocabulary, which makes learning faster and easier.

Of course, there are also differences — for example, in the use of tenses and aspects, as well as so-called “false friends” (words that sound similar but have different meanings). That is why learning Polish with a teacher from the beginning is helpful — you can quickly eliminate mistakes and better understand the differences between both languages.

Frequently Asked Questions – learning Polish for Ukrainians

Does the Polish teacher speak Ukrainian?

No, I don’t speak Ukrainian. I speak Polish and English.

What level do we start at?

If you already know at least the basics of Polish, I will ask you to complete a placement test before your free trial lesson. During the lesson, I will also assess your language level and choose the appropriate course based on your current skills, needs, and goals. If you are just starting to learn Polish, we will begin with the basics. However, we will probably progress through the material much faster than students whose native languages are not Slavic.

Are Polish language lessons for Ukrainians held online or in person?

I offer online lessons, which are held via Google Meet.
